Qualitative Research Methods
Participation Prerequisites
Participants must be enrolled doctoral students. Those with scheduling conflicts that are likely to overlap with any course sessions are kindly asked to refrain from registering for this course.
Course Content
Research methods must fit research questions. As both grow more sophisticated, successful research designs increasingly combine multiple approaches within one paper. Therefore, this highly interactive course (i) provides participants with substantive knowledge of a broad range of qualitative approaches in business research (e.g., case studies, grounded theory, process studies, ethnography). Participants will further (ii) learn to effectively combine qualitative with quantitative methods—such as conducting expert interviews after lab experiments or survey studies—to interpret and enrich findings. Former participants also valued our in-depth coverage of (iii) how to successfully publish research papers. Special emphasis will be put on how to enhance theorization using artificial intelligence through leveraging large language models for qualitative analysis of data.
