FTMBA2026 Advanced Management Control Systems
Course Content
The first part of the course focuses on potential control problems and selected control frameworks. Students will gain insights into specific management control systems, such as budgeting and performance measurement systems.
The second part of the module focuses on management accounting. Based on case studies, students will learn how to apply several management accounting tools, such as activity-based costing and target costing.
In the third part, classroom discussions will revolve around strategic management accounting and control issues. For example, students will learn how to develop a Balanced Scorecard. In addition, we will talk about the roles of controllers and management accountants and the challenges in developing these roles in the future.
Intended Learning Outcomes and Competencies
This course creates a comprehensive understanding of management accounting and control and tasks of management accountants within the ranges of information supply, planning, and control among its participants. They will be enabled to critically assess management accounting and control systems and practices in business organizations.
