Course Content
The 24-hour case competition involves participants in a practical case study applying circular economy levers to make a real business sustainably profitable. Day 1 includes an introduction to the case, deliverables briefing and group work, including a Q&A session with the CEO. On Day 2, participants provide a preliminary executive summary and transformation overview, then develop project charters and action plans across value streams for implementation. The course concludes with group presentations and peer evaluations based on defined criteria, including CEO feedback. The case balances individual and group performance, makes sustainability specific and fosters strategic thinking and tactical execution skills.
Intended Learning Outcomes and Competencies
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze and evaluate complex business challenges through the lens of circular economy principles.
- Critically assess opportunities to enhance sustainability while ensuring profitability in a real-world setting
- Develop and present a structured executive summary outlining a target state for the business in question.
- Create actionable project charters and value-stream-based action plans to implement proposed solutions.
- Apply collaborative problem-solving techniques and circular economy levers to address real-world challenges for old economy businesses.
- Effectively communicate solutions and recommendations to stakeholders, including executives and peers.
- Evaluate peer and group performance using predefined criteria, fostering constructive feedback and reflection.
- Gain transferrable analytical frameworks to effectively drive sustainable transformation in the business you work with of will work with after graduation
